A break

Between the computers, phones, televisions, and all the other electronic devices there are times when I need a break. A day off from all of that. The other day in a fast food place I looked around and saw people on their phones. They were sitting with other people, yet their attention was glued to their phones. They looked up every now and then. But most of their attention was on their electronic device. I have so many applications on my phone that I could be glued to it all day long.

But why? Why should I be connected all day to my blog? Why should I be tuned into all the different social media places all day long? If it takes me a while to approve or reply to a comment; it isn’t the end of the world. I’ve got other things to do than to sit and wait for comments. When we are sitting with someone in a restaurant; we should be focused on them. They are the person who is right there in front of us. I don’t have to post to social media every moment of my day. I don’t have to be there to reply to everything someone else posts either. It’s not the most important thing in life.

We should try to unplug at least once a week. Get out of the caves we have built for ourselves and have fun. Talk to family, read books, engage with something more than a computer screen. It’s important to take a break from being plugged into it all; every day.
